Mobile gaming also exceeds console gaming in revenue in America too. Diablo is just historically not a game structured like that.

He is probably right too. The game can have a shitty score but still make a shit ton of money and probably is. Its also probably not just their Asian market. Im sure the US is spending a bunch too.

If only they didn't also do that because a female character got chubby cheeks, or another character ended up being a lesbian.

I'm not saying the game practice they are using with the microtransactions isn't scummy but we act like 2988 (as of now) people clicking a 0 is some victory against the practice of scummy microtransactions on a free game. Or effects Blizzards bottom line. Or will make any less people download the game and pay money for microtransactions.

Not to the point of asian countries. Not sure how much you have to be living under a rock to not get that. Specially in China were most other gaming is restricted as fuck, whilst their home made p2w mobile games are basically the only thing they get and dump their money into.

Why are we comparing? I'm simply correcting the implication that Americans aren't significant mobile gamers either which is objectively false. Mobile games have far higher revenue in the US as well. You're the one living under a rock if you don't think Americans aren't the main contributors to the success of games like fortnite, candy crush (which franchise grosses more than the GTA franchise), temple run, TF2, and Pokemon Go.

Cause western companies are literally copying the asian companies and market specifically for the asian markets with their mobile games. Which is literally what this game was made for with little regards to the western audience.

That's terrible man. Diablo 3 was a favorite game of mine and I beat it twice on console a few years back. I wanna download immortal but I usually don't play free phone games as I hate to deal with advertising and micro transactions. I am debating just downloading it though just to see how it is. It's a huge game though at like 12 gigs. I honestly wish it was a new paid diablo game. Then none of this stupid microtransations and advertising and terrible loot boxes would be around

Going to talk truthfully for a second. I'm playing through Diablo Immortal solo, and got to say I'm actually enjoying the experience. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely some really scummy things they have in the game, and I'm not a fan of the pop-ups constantly telling me stuff I already know, but the story isn't bad, some of the scenarios introduce things I've never seen before in an action rpg, like when you approach a cliff in the first scenario your character slides down it. I've never seen that before. And its so simple, but it just makes sense.

It's not an 8/10 experience, but I'd give it a solid 6 maybe even a 7.

A buncha people who havent even played the game clicking zero because their favorite streamer or news outlet said you need to spend 100k to max a character.

That's bs. Western mobile games have always been a thing. In fact, it's the other way around. Asian companies started copying western mobile games first. and expanded on it more as it eventually became their predominant market. But that doesn't mean western mobile companies have ever changed their policies. The most popular mobile games are western.
Thinking this game is meant to pander to Asian markets as if American doesn't have a sizable mobile market too are some 4chan conspiracy theories. It's simply moving from a franchise that was more "hardcore" console and PC oriented to a casual mobile one. Which is still a huge jump since they're very different markets and the two rarely align with each other.

Diablo has never been a serious game. Some people are just insecure about mobile gaming and youtube monetization has made it so there's plenty of content to turn into that swerve.

Game's pretty fun, played a character to level 30-40 over the weekend. Felt like I was making very normal progress without purchasing anything. Didn't really get too much interuption about microtransactions, not sure what all this complaining about pop ups is about.

I feel like millennial Diablo fans are just triggered theyre marketing and making games in the franchise to a wider or other audiences. It sucks to see something you love become more popular and more commercialized but thats often the way of things.

Actually, looks like a couple of games have surpassed Clash of Clans since I last checked. Looks like Asian mobile games have really exploded recently. Still though, Asian mobile market escalating doesn't mean western market has diminished. Forgot about Roblox too.

leaderboards arent p2w. Only whales and try hards give a shit about that. It doesnt effect the common player.

the games campaign content is easily done f2p. Gems in PVP are severely gimped. Theres no leveling boost to buy either.

you dont have to spend a dime to thoroughly enjoy everything outside of leaderboards.

and yes the game has flaws and is far from perfect. The real money shop is definitely lower on the list.

you dont need 100k to max out a character cause in loot games you can never max a character. Especially in Diablo.

its a pretty full game. That requires $0 to play 99% of content efficiently.

Leaderboards are the only thing thoroughly effected by the cash shop cause better gems give you better output. And as I said, in PVP, gem effects are gimped to compensate.
