What about this video makes you think he agreed to working 3 hours for $10. Pretty much the only context we have is that that was never an agreement.
Well for starters

I didn't watch the clip
That said, why would you agree to work without any sort of agreement

Of course it's shit pay. But without any sort of agreement, the "employer" is within his rights to pay whatever he wants, or even just walk away and say thanks for the favor. Which is why more backstory is necessary.

Do I agree with charging $10 for three hours? Fuck no. But the "employee" made a huge mistake not agreeing to a rate beforehand (again, that we know of; we need more context).

My whole point regarding this and similar stories is that a 30 second clip is never the full story. Which is why I haven't even needed to watch it to garner the fact that nobody ITT has the full story.

The concept of hard work for fair pay does not exist now.

The modern worker is Bob Crachet (or however you spell it).

There's nothing here I haven't already covered a response to ITT. Agree to disagree I guess. I would definitely make the agreement upfront, which again, no one can confirm wasn't the case off this video alone. People are still just assuming, because they never heard of someone going back on their original word apparently.

But I dunno. You guys sound like you'd be too scared to say anything if you're being mistreated for accidentally forgetting to talk about everything upfront. I guess, that's just not for me. Im not taking an L just because I didn't say "Hey, can you not pay me like it's still the 1950s, you dusty ass bitch" lol.

He should've slapped himself instead since now he's rightfully going to face legal trouble, which will amount more than what he's earned.

Filiming yourself assaulting someone isn't the way to handle this. He cares more about attention than the money and now he's probably going to jail. Nobody wins here.

Well, I'd bet the employer will never pull anything like that again. He'd remember that slap.

How do you accept a job, as temporary as 3 hours may be, without knowing the pay you'd receive? Partially his fault on this but I agree, 10 bucks for that? Lol.

tl;dw

* Man splits logs for three hours
* Employer decides to only pay 10 bucks
* Man slaps the shit out of employer
* Ends up with 0 dollars

I'm honestly surprised more jobs like this aren't pay by production. I've seen it happen. I applied to one job that was salary pay until you hit your daily quota after that you got paid extra based on ever pallet over the quota you assembled. People working there made out like it was a sweet gig. They said you might struggle at first but once you got the hang of it you'd meet your quota by lunch. So you could either pack it up and go home or work a full day and make bank

So basically it was effectively motivating employees to plug away and not slack off.

I've seen it as a punishment at a job too. Dude was slow as fuck so boss told him he was gonna pay him x amount for every piece of siding he installed. Dude ended up quitting cause due to his slowness he wasn't making shit.

not a punishment, but an effective way to weed out workers who just arent cut out for that job.

its also a way to train your workers to work the way you want them too.

incentives get the most out of people. If I had a quota at work to hit and I can punch out at whatever time that quota was hit? Fuck yeah Im busting ass. Time is money.
