Haters have attempted to strip all the fun out of this entire movie and I wont allow it.

its absolutely top 10. Its phenomenal. If you cant let yourself enjoy it, thats your own problem and no one elses.

Detractors say why did no one try this before and I say why cant that be the first time?Seeing something for the literal first time isnt a critique.

and then people say why cant it be done again. I mean episode 9, which is a complete piece of dogshit imho and shits on TLJ in so many ways, has the perfect explanation. It was one in a million. Yall let these movies make up their own rules a thousand other times but its this scene specifically you have problems digesting? No its not the scene. Its you. You miserable, sad human bean.

Some take the hate to extreme levels and that's stupid AF, but most of us just think it and other things in the movie are kinda dumb to outright bad and don't let it get that much too us. We're just disappointed mainly. Then you have extreme defenders going "Omg you must hate fun and must be the most miserable people ever who complain about everything! You must hate everything in life!" and generalizing all us critics.

Like jeez, it's not that bad.

TLJ is wonderful and I can argue why almost all its "flaws" people point out are actually good things.

The weird journey of Finn and Rose on the planet surface is the flaw I can't really argue against. It did really seem to screw the pacing and wasn't strong enough to interrupt the other cool shit going on.

What about one of those big Mon Calamari frigates? You'd figure even an x-wing going at that rate of speed would still majorly fuck up the DS. If they could track the DS's path and trajectory and such they wouldn't even need to be close to do it. Just set your coordinates and boom.

I'm still not as hard on that scene as most people, but I still wonder about that sort of stuff.

Honestly, hyperspace kind of makes a mess of space combat no matter what the rules are. If it was like before where things in hyperspace can't hit anything they'd still make for incredibly overpowered missiles. Strap a hyperdrive and a droid brain for guidance to a missile, then have it jump out of hyperspace shortly before impacting the target.

Agreed. Mostly sad imho. When all 3 movies in your trilogy really are fighting with each other its not a good look.

But I stand with the decisions TLJ made, I think they were smarter and more interesting. I think JJs sour grapes after the fact and his inability to play nice after TLJ is just childish and ultimately brought the movie down completely. Literally resulting, imho, not just the worst movie in the Star Wars legacy by a county mile. But honestly one of the worst movies Ive ever had the displeasure of seeing.

All the conversations about TLJ for the 5 years since its release have been dictated and controlled by the extremely vocal haters.

So yeah being extreme about select praise the movie deserves is where you have to be to even get a word in edgewise.

Honestly I didn't like tlj, mostly because I think Holdo was very poorly characterized for someone we were supposed to admire. For most of the movie I legitimately thought she was a saboteur, so that says a lot about how the crew must have thought of her. Regardless, at least it tried to shake up the formula, as compared to the stale boring JJ Abrams movies.

TLJ is pretty good when you ignore all the implications on the lore and world building for star wars, outside of the entirety of Canto Bight. And that's not something that can be said of RoS.

It's difficult to imagine the EU salvaging the sequel era like it did the prequel era... but who knows.

I'm just gonna pop in right here before I read on.

"As an object approaches the speed of light, the object's mass becomes infinite and so does the energy required to move it."

If someone in an X-Wing throws out a thumbtack while going at lightspeed, the thumbtack could cause the same amount of damage.

The scene makes no sense at all. Also they called it a 1 in a million, one in a million isn't much when there are billions of stars, a flight computer has to make a lot of calculations all the time to avoid hitting another object in space. Plus all she had to do was make a 180 degree turn and hit the gas.

There was no force implication, there was an attempt to "cover up the stupid", much like "Somehow, Palpatine" line.

I agree 100% that it looked cool. But it was beyond brain dead and broke any semblance of sense to the lightspeed travel and war tactics in Star WARS.
If they wanted to just blow your mind with moronic special effect they could have had Holdo use the Force to pull in 10 suns to smash the Supremacy, or pulled out a Jar Jar canon out of her ass and shot them with it. Both of those scenarios make just as much sense if not more.
