Because its nowhere close to enough to solve the crippling student loan crisis that everyone has, does nothing to suggest the government has an interest in solving the real problem (i.e., skyrocketing tuition and stagnant wages making it an almost mandatory huge loan you take out at 18 and low wages put huge barriers to you economically for other things or even just paying it back) and is repeatedly being blown off with a "oh well let the baby have his bottle" kind of smug-talking-down-to-you thing? Its the same reason people don't like statements like "not all men" to things like #MeToo, or "not all cops" to stuff like BLM. Its kind of intentionally ignoring the problem, pretending that throwing a bit of what people want at them will get them to shut up without needing to deal the actual work. ... Copied to Clipboard!
