Abbott is a de-facto puppet of the larger Texas Republican GOP establishment that began in earnest with figures like GWB and Rick Perry. They are the most corrupt political institution in the nation and essentially corporatized the state through big oil & energy, leaving behind rural development and letting geography carry the state's economy. When they have to manage something not given to them by nature, we get the bottom of the barrel, seen in our Education system. Worst governor? Hard to say, most ones in the South are quite reprehensible. But he's absolutely a contender. It just needs to be repeated that Abbott is no genius, he's just a part of a larger state apparatus that has fucked Texans over for 30 years. DeSantis seems more individually evil that Abbott, but remember: Abbott gets checks for life from a property owner because a tree they had fell on him, and he later outlawed that while still being able to get checks. --- Enjoy movies and television? DeSantis has spent the past two years actively getting people killed in order to fuel a future presidential run.
