What he's doing is kinda fucked but also at the same time I'm happy if the world gets extra attention on the fact that Twitter is completely horribly overrun with bots. Just glance at the responses under any of Elon's, or any big twitter account's, tweets. I'd think 25% of users is probably even an underestimate, or at least even if it's only 25% bot users those 25% are still disproportionately making up a much larger percentage of the overall tweet dialogue. The entire platform is so fucked and so easily manipulated.

step 1: announce you gonna own twitter
step 2: announce you going to ruin it even more
step 3: watch the value of twitter tank
step 4: say actually you aren't buying it tbh
step 5: say you know, the value tanked so you need to lower the price for me

You cant do that, you cant change the negotiated price after the contract is made and you cant just dictate a new price to the other party.

The absolute best case he might be able to Twitter broke the contract with willful misinformation about the number of bots and use that to nullify the contract without him receiving penalties, but he would need to prove that in court not just yell it into the internet.

Sigh

Elon Musk really needs to shut the fuck up and just back out of the deal. He should just pay whatever penalty he agreed to and let Twitter go about their business without his tomfoolery.

Sure, Twitter has a lot of fake accounts. Whatever the percentage of fake accounts is, if you agree to pay ~$44 billion dollars before you know that detail, that's on you.
