You can tell they really just wanted this movie to be The Evil Dead and true to Strange's roots as an occult character

After getting over the honeymoon phase of the movie, I can admit the writing was kinda weak, but there was some pretty cool action there.

The scene where Wong yells "Strange!" and laughs, when zombie strange gets his wings will stick with me for life.

Same. But only because the trailers made it seem like he was going to die.

Even the opening with the Clark Kent moment of him galavanting off the balcony, and the bus floating in the air as it was being crushed was pretty awesome, especially coming from Raimi, due to his directing of Spider-Man. There were a couple of shots where Strange looked like Superman too, with the red cape facing the camera and just a little bit of blue sticking out, the combed brown hair, flying in the air. We got Patrick Stewart. Raimi got to introduce AND kill Reed Richards. As Jim. Who gets knocked on by Strange. Lol

I think they got great performances out of everyone and the more practical effects with what looks like less stunt doubles and CGI stand-ins came through. The movie pushed the limit by incorporating some of the more violent tropes you see from PG-13 movies. I really enjoyed it.

Thought they did a great job with America Chavez too.

It's no Watchmen or The Pit In The Pendulum tho, if that's what you mean. Not that the first one was either.

One of the things that blows my mind in hindsight is when Strange pierced sent a traffic sign flying through the air and pierced Shuma's eye, causing the eye to fall right out of the socket. I was like, "Holy shit, I think that's one of the most violent things I've seen Marvel do."

And yet, I've completely forgotten all about it thanks to what came later.

I really wish this movie got an R rating.

I know, it's an absurd thought due to it being Disney but...

Fuck, Raimi would have done a lot more.
