I know for our kid, we chose to not know the sex before birth, so we ended up call the baby just "the baby" and sometimes used "it".

It'd be interesting trying to do that after birth though.

To trans people or children who identify as whatever they want or don't want? No, and its really not even in the frame. This isn't about treating them differently. Its why I said I don't think its being supportive, per se. Just something different.

Its the parents right and choice, I mean nobody should be a dick about it. Its just not something I see as a genuine act for the child sake. I could be wrong. I dont feel that strongly about it, aside from the initial point that someones gender is about a lot more than genitalia, which is somehow being argued against by others here.

I lightly disapprove of a small part of someone elses parenting. Shoot me if that matters at ALL.

If you want to pretend you weren't right alongside with the other folks early on, you'll have to do better than that, given your first message still exists.

Two sentences wasn't a very heavy investment. Its far more likely to just be a weird little conversation that would be very difficult for a younger child. Its unfortunate that trans children have to go through that, and I don't think its something I would think should HAVE to happen by default.

But its not like shes doing it because she doesn't give a shit, so its more than likely all good. Get the rugrat a nice name that works with it like Sam or Gene/Jean or Jerry and they're set for life.
