I really liked this show, from the 5 seasons to even the sudden depressing season 6 tonal shift.

For 5 seasons straight: a feel good, comfortable show that's like a less mean-spirited The Office with a likable non asshole boss and even the number 2 is less egregiously annoying and gets better.

Then suddenly season 6: the coronavirus pandemic in full swing, utterly depressing, one of the characters straight up leaving out of the blue, show is canceled to boot, just offered up to the chopping block.

The interview tapes in the episode finale were a great idea. They almost make up for how depressing season 6 was with its cancellation and Amy wanting to leave and the breakup out of the blue

I feel the same way. While I don't think it'll be remembered as one of the greats like The Office or Scrubs, it's a solid comfortable show with the occasional big laugh.

I think they did the best they could with Season 6 considering the Ferrera leaving/Covid one two punch.

I only found out about this show this year and binged the entire series the past few months, but yeah I'm shocked I didn't hear about it before. It's not Scrubs or Parks and Recreation tier sure, but it's still very comforting to watch and is sort of like Trial and Error, which was Parks and Rec-lite.

I watched it about 8 months ago. I thought it was great straight through. Amy leaving for season 6 stunk but I enjoyed the last season anyway. And the people of Walmart moments were consistently hilarious and a great way to do the transitions.

Yeah the customer transitions were fantastic. Add to the fact that I've literally seen people act that way in real life is just icing on the cake

That's what made them so great. My wife worked at Target for a couple years and those customer transitions were so relatable to her.

Trial and Error elicited huge laughs from me, so if you're just talking about style then sure, but Trial and Error had me dying of laughter even in the first season, whereas Parks and Rec took about 2 - 3 seasons to really hit it's perfect stride.

If you're saying Superstore is similar to Trial and Error (or perhaps Better Off Ted? Another oft forgotten show) then I might have to give this a try.

I was initially upset that Amy left but I later found out that America Ferrera wanted to leave for personal family reasons so that makes sense and I can't fault her for that

I really liked trial and error too and wish it had been given more seasons. I meant more in the sense that it's also set in a middle america town with its own quirky citizens just like pawnee in parks and rec. It was well cast and the idea of a rotating guest appearance for each case every season would have worked but oh well.

I will say they did go overboard with the bleeps... it started to sound annoying. Since it's network TV the characters can't actually swear so they bleep it but parks and rec usually had one or two precise key bleeps per season but trial and error had several per episode. Ultimately minor since I still really liked the show.

Superstore is also set in the heartland and it's great for that
