Yeah.. when I tell people dark souls never Interested me cause I just work too much to deal with a game where being hard is the attraction I get met with "but you can run away from most fights in this one!" Like... how does that make it more fun?

but i want to play like a mage/archer type character. i want to do 99/100% magic, but im concerned i will run out of mana during a boss fight or something. or any fight really
are there ways to regenerate mana mid combat

or is it possible to go full skyrim and do a stealth archer/assassin

Bows are hilariously underpowered. Don't go into the game expecting it to be like Skyrim.

Magic def viable and you have flask charges you can allocate to mana regen which is referred to as FP.

you can sneak around but I feel the games arent built around that.

enemies aggro easily.

mage is basically easy mode,

imo it's not worth full price. it's easily the weakest FromSoft soulslike, by quite a lot and for a number of reasons

still fun in places tho

I don't think archer is a viable playstyle unfortunately. There are bows and crossbows but they feel more like secondary weapons.

Magic is 100% viable, there are a ton of spells and you can regenerate mana (FP) with flasks.

are flasks like estus or whatever? you only got a few of those and I imagine some elite mobs or bosses are like damage sponges

they're exactly the same as estus and ashen estus and upgrades are extremely plentiful

I'd never played a souls game before and seeing the hype on this finally had me decide to give it a try.

I was underwhelmed.

I put in about 80 hours too, it's not like I didn't give it a fair chance. But it just didn't grip me.

I understand why people like it though and wouldn't take it away from anyone, so if soulslikes are your thing then this should definitely fill the need.

what I didnt like about dark souls 1 was just like the vagueness of it, and I dont like its flavour of exploration. I didnt know any of the characters or what I was doing or why. I didnt like that I just had to figure out where to go and get lost.
I figure elden ring might be different since it seems like its taking the BotW route of exploration. Theres something everywhere and so much unique stuff to find. I think maybe if I just go in with the mindset I just go anywhere I want and figure out how to get to the final boss later I might enjoy it more than dark souls 1. The difficulty doesnt bother me, I didnt struggle with what I played of ds1

anyways I shelled out over 100 dollarydoos for the digital deluxe. I want to finish cold steel 2 before nirvana initiative releases, and Im still playing ff14 but Ill find some time to slot in elden ring

elden ring actually has guide points at graces so its impossible to get lost

but the game does encourage you to go off path and explore the map because its huge.

its actually fun getting lost in the map. One day Im exploring a forest and the next Moment Im deep underground. Its nuts

if this game was a babe, it would definitely be a 10/10.

Bows can be good but it takes too much work. Mages are stupidly overpowered.

This is me melting a boss with only the weapon art on my sword using my mage build. Granted this was on like day 2 after launch.
