You get infinite ammo for both(still have to reload), and can reload and shoot either one as well as an expert could.

Grenade launcher holds only 1 grenade at a time. You'll have to reload each time.

Shotgun is automatic and has a 10 round magazines.

Which do you choose CE?

T-Rex fight in this scenario would be way more badass.

Hippo. Shotguns are weaker with distance, but each shoot is still something, and I've got infinite shots.

Hips are faster than you'd expect, but I'd imagine a bigass TRex would be harder to get away from, so you really only have 1 shot to get it right.

Trex. 1 40mm grenade would instantly put it out of commission. Even if it survived, 1 more would finished the downed beast off.

Shotgun vs hippo wouldnt be nearly as clean and quick.

There are also a lot of variables int he weapon choices. What kind of grenade launcher? What type of ammo would i be using? What gauge shotgun and ammo type?

what kind of nade is it shooting? normal frag? i don't trust that to kill it in one shot, and there's every chance it won't even detonate.

even birdshot in the eyes would probably at least deter a hippo

Do grenade launchers work like in video games and explode on impact? I kinda thought maybe it's just a way to get way more distance and velocity on one. I feel like you'd have to lead your target a bit with the Trex and I dunno how easy that would be

M406 40 mm HE grenades. Which are actually smaller than normal handthrown grenades iirc. However, you may as well think of it as a normal grenade I suppose? Or at least a normal grenade launcher grenade.

I thought the options were a T-rex armed with a grenade launcher or a hippo armed with a shotgun.

Sure, but if it's chasing you and you fire a shot, the explosion will scare it off for at least the time you need to reload and aim another shot. It might be to the death, but it won't be charging at you full tilt, 24/7, until one of you dies.

Yes they do, after a certain distance anyways. Let's say after about 50 feet.

Hippo I guess I'd let it get close and start unloading my initial ten shots into its face.

Even if it survives it'll probably be in rough shape and not as capable of killing me before I can reload.

I don't think T-rex's can be domesticated

Plus it's gonna freak out everytime you fire a grenade

Definitely the T-Rex. It's huge, I'm not gonna miss.

T-Rex would maybe be able to use the grenade launcher, but the hippo wouldn't even be able to hold the shotgun so I'll take the hippo with a shotgun.
