they have to shut off their vehicle at every stop and they make on average 100-150 stops a day.

so on a really hot day theyre van or truck will never be comfortable to be in.

It says in the end of the story, the new rule will be that Amazon will enforce drivers to turn off their vans at every stop. At 200 stops a day it becomes tedious as well as a health concern because the A/C wont maintain cooling in the summer

everything in his post is true, but this isn't a new rule. it was a requirement to turn your van off at every stop at least 2 years ago when i drove briefly during lockdowns.

if you didn't turn your van off, the monitoring app on your scanning device dinged your report. the workaround for this was to download the apk for the monitoring app on your phone (or the apk for deliveries), and just leave whichever phone had the monitoring app running untouched in the glovebox all day. the only way it knew to ding you was for "phone manipulation" (touching the screen) while the vehicle was on, so if you didn't touch it all day, you were good. i had a perfect driving score all 3 months i worked there, and i never turned my van off, even though we were repeatedly told to do so. shit was too fucking hot, and it takes too fucking long to turn your van on and off at every stop.

amazon continuing to usher in the new-age dystopia
workers treated like machines, expected to work like machines
pay still mediocre
conditions as inhumane as possible without crossing the line into what they're already doing in third world countries every single day
man fuck amazon
