I'm still not sure I quite understood tailspin. It was jungle book characters turned anthropomorphic with a little bit of gummi bears, a dash of robin hood, with maybe a light sprinkling of goof troop? What was this show

It's a crossover, but it's an episode of Hercules. In terms of Aladdin, I think it's actually set after everything except the third movie.

Ok that would make more sense. I don't think Jafar was around after return of jafar. I think it goes return of jafar, the series, then king of thieves

Jennifer Anniston is the girl that she brings to life in that same episode. Also, Sarah Michelle Gellar is in the same episode. It was a late 90s all star cast

I think it's the fact that they found it a fun little bit to do in between their main projects, since it's clear that the they're enjoying themselves in the episode, with Lisa's character actually giving sass.

But that was probably the weirdest thing I've seen of the disney shows, and I've seen them all save for this.

Tailspin is definitely one of those shows where you don't want to overthink the premise and just accept what you see. Repurposed Jungle Book characters working as air freighters and fighting off sky pirates in a quasi-futuristic art deco seaside metropolis? Sure, what the hell, why not?

Nowadays I feel like people would be quick to write off such premises as 'lol zee randumb bullshit.' But it cannot be understated that shows like Tailspin (along with video games of that era like Super Mario and Final Fantasy, many of which had a similar hard-to-pin-down aesthetic) did wonders for expanding my sense of creativity at a young and impressionable age.

Agreed. They just seemed to focus on telling an adventure story using whatever properties they had, and then just creating their own characters.

It isn't the first time Disney has done this. On the childhood favorite Darkwing Duck, his sidekick was Launchpad who was already on Ducktales and it seems clear it's the same person yet they seem like 2 separate shows, can't remember if they're even in the same universe.

Launchpad had a particularly cute line for this in Ducktales 2017 (in which the two universes are definitively connected): "I'll work in Duckburg by day, St. Canard by night, and I'll sleep on the drive over!" (the joke of course being that Launchpad is the one driving)

(not to mention probably spearheading the golden age era of cartoons in the 90s)

I consider mighty mouse the new adventures to be the Kickstart. The animation wasn't great but it has that 90s sense of humor so hard. It was late 80s so it was kind of ahead of it's time.

Ducktales 2017 is honestly one of the best reboots to have come out in the modern era. It's very cleverly-written, actually gives Huey, Dewey and Louie distinct personalities, finally gives Donald Duck some depth and makes him a sympathetic and likeable character, and rewards you for being a lifelong Disney fan with some very references / updates to old characters. All 3 seasons are on Disney+, I'd highly recommend giving it a try.

I 100% agree with this. As someone who dislikes reboots, I thoroughly enjoyed the show. All the characters are likeable. And the references to other shows and cameos aren't just there as Easter eggs. They are part of the world-building of that universe and it is done phenomenally. And I second the good treatment of Donald. I always hated how little he was in the original. This one makes him a central character along with the others.

For more recent Disney series recommendations, definitely recommend Amphibia and The Owl House

It's honestly kinda crazy hearing such high praise for the reboot show but I'll definitely check it out, this just makes for another show to watch on disney plus
