I do wonder if there is a way to make those realistic animals more expressive without it looking silly.

I thought they did a rather good job in the live action Lady & The Tramp from a couple years ago.

I do wonder if there is a way to make those realistic animals more expressive without it looking silly. The Lion King seemed almost too obsessed with being realistic regarding everything. I don't know how anyone could have liked how I Can't Wait to be King and Be Prepared ended up.

I do agree making CGI versions of the cartoon is pointless. The original is already a gorgeous animated movie that holds up well.

I think it's just one of those movies that just doesn't lend itself well to a remake tbh. The stage show being a good adaptation is about as good as it can possibly get.

It's just a weird remake in general. People always point to Avatar as a huge movie that disappeared in the public conversation. TLK 2019 is way worse in that regard. The original still feels more relevant.

I saw a good fix of one of the scenes that changed only the level of expression. I'll have to post it later

It's a lower key movie which made it easier to translate I think. The biggest musical number is 'I Want to Be Like You' right? Which funnily enough I think was also the weakest point of that remake. Also helps that there's still a human lead.

What worked for TJB didn't work for TLK IMO. So the only reason to keep bringing it up is to be a nuisance troll. If it's a misunderstanding you should be fine to let it go by now.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying but I have no shame in re-explaining myself and it doesn't make me feel holy or better than you that I have to do this. Even if I think I explained it perfectly and you still didn't understand, I still think nothing of it and I don't look down on you for not understanding.

Anyway, your post didn't say or even imply that initially. I'm sure YOU think you did and everyone who doesn't are just idiots or trolls. I know, you having to re-explaining what you mean it such a drag.

Villians always being one dimensional like that is both uninteresting and culturally undesirable. Do we want our media to be required to reinforce simplistic black and white notions of good and evil?

Scar isn't really the best example of a deep villian or anything but we shouldn't pretend that evil and fascism arise solely because every person involved is doing what they do simply because they were born evil or decided to be that way on a whim.

Fascist characters can have sympathetic elements handled in tasteful ways. Pretending they are all inhuman only blinds us to ways we can combat fascism in the first place.

Also I don't think losing a coup attempt is a particularly sympathetic traits unless the movie showed Scar as genuinely having good ideas for how to rule, stronger morals etc.

Which...yeah the movie clearly shows his Jealously, arrogance, pettiness and Ineptness at ruling. Scar had very little sympathetic about him. Growing up in a Brother's shadow is essentially the only thing about him that could elicit sympathy
