So all of a sudden I just remembered this part where someone got themselves, just their brain and eyes in a box so they could be smuggled to the upper city.

Leads me to question, if the technology exists, how long can you be in that state before you go mental from boredom?

I assume you don't get put under because the eyes were moving. You are conscious.
