I enjoyed the effects, make up and soundtrack. The first is kinda slow and boring but the other 2 make up for it either way a solid 4 for me.

At least a 3.5

Solid 5. The only criticisms I have are nitpicks, certainly not enough to drop the score.

I used to go by 1-10 but that made the vote to split all over the place which is why I went with 1-5 instead

Favorite trilogy ever, and that goes especially with the extended versions.

4.5 or so. Maybe even 4.8. Only a few relatively minor things bother me.

I feel like the whole "OMG Aragorn is dead!/Will Aragorn get to Helm's Deep in time?" in TTT was a waste and put there just to put in some fake tension when the whole Uruk Hai/Dunlending army making way to Helm's Deep had enough tension. Should have nixed that and Faramir taking Frodo and Sam to Osgiliath, which was out of character and also sort of pointless. It should have eneded like the book with Frodo getting stung by Shelob and taken into the tower. It's a great cliffhanger too.

That and the over the top Legolas moments, Gimli being dumbed down too much for comedic relief, and some of the beat you over the head choices. Wormtongue looks so evil and acts so shady to the point where it's ridiculous he even got to the position he was in within Theoden's court in the first place. They also went way overboard with Denethor as well to make him out to be evil to the point of eating bloody meat. It's like Jackson never heard of subtlety. Also cutting Saruman's death in the theatrical version of ROTK. It's like they brushed him aside. I know the movie was already long AF, but he was an important character.

It's mostly nitpicky, I know, but it does bother me. Other than all that, it's absolutely wonderful. One of the few things where the word "epic" rightfully describes it.

Definitely top tier. Just watched with my older 2 daughters a few weeks ago. We are watching The Hobbit at this very moment. Certainly not as good.

best trilogy out there. solid 10/10 films

Never seen it. Probably should get around to watching it at some point.
