After they've bullied you so much?

My manager is an early 30 something milf that wears yoga pants on days that the students aren't in and talks casually about needing a drink at 9am

I don't have one ;)

I've had nine managers in my life. Loved 5, hated 4, two of which to the point I've quit.

It's remarkable how similar all four of the bad ones were.

I quit my last job after I got passed up for a manager promotion. It was given to a woman outspoken about not knowing anything about the department, who additionally would make racist jokes.

My current boss is fucking awesome. She's super chill.

I didn't hate my last manager in my last job, although she really did everything she could to try and get me fired. She took it personally, was pretty af, gaslight me, never apologized for her fuck ups, micromanaged and had no management and interpersonal skills.

My word of advice: If you have a terrible manager and they don't like you, they will try get you fired and you will never get promoted from them. Look for other jobs asap and start packing your bags. Also don't be afraid to document everything that is questionable and complain to their manager.

You can succeed 9 times but fail one time and they can hold it over your head and make you feel stupid/incompetent while never boosting morale.

If you have a good manager, stay as long as you can and grow within the company as much as you can. Good managers care and will help you in your career, even if it means leaving them.

I can never not get anxiety job hunting for a new job and hoping my next manager is not an assbag.

Every bad manager i've ever had has been harsh, had low empathy, and was unclear with their instructions, and only saw you as a number. Conversely every good one i've met was understanding, harsh only when needed, clear and cared about their workers to some extent.

My supervisor is a 55+ old woman who is sweet and friendly and understanding.

Granted, it's also very hard to micromanage my job, so that's also a plus.

Why is TC obsessed with managers?

My managers usually just check in maybe once during the whole shift and ask if things are going well then just goes back to their office.

Hard to be mad at them over that.

i hardly see my manager since i'm overnights, but he's cool and doesn't seem to really care whether or not everything is done perfectly and by the book. as long as the place is still standing, everything's fine

My last manager was a bully. It was a terrible feeling. What's worse was that my group was small and I felt like I couldn't talk to anyone. And problems I had, I had to go through her. Her colleague wasn't willing to listen. And that manager was the type that was extremely petty and retaliated, so I never complained to her manager (which I deeply regret not doing so) out of fear. But she threw me under the bus so many times

I've had 10 managers so far in my life. 8 of them I couldn't stand. 1 was incompetent and the last one was pretty good, but he retired after 2 years leaving me with a manager who took away all the hard work that I put into my security job.

1 of my managers actually legit got fired for overworking his staff. He would play the "I couldn't get anyone to take the shift, can you take it" game. I didn't mind, as I was getting a TON of money from it, I was earning 11-12 dollars an hour, plus overtime and holiday pay and this was back when minimum wage was 7.50/8 dollars an hour Canadian. Mind you, I was overworked. In the span of 1 month I worked 30/31 days. And these weren't just 8 hour shifts. These were 12-16 hour shifts with a single day off in the middle.

I literally rented out the entirety of Jumbo Video(Canadian version of Blockbuster) in a month. I was able to do that because my security job was watching old abandoned buildings 10 kms outside the city where no one ever showed up. So I would bring my 2005 laptop, or portable dvd player to work and play games/watch movies all night.

Terrible job though, the way we were treated was horrible outside of that.

Because my manager is pretty great tbh. 2nd best Ive ever had, and Ive had at least a good dozen or so.
