There probably is some benefit in just bringing these bills to a vote, despite knowing it will fail. Do it to make it explicitly clear which party doesn't want to pass bills. But Dems... Just don't do that, and I'm not sure why

Obviously it won't pass, but it might give people a little faith in Democrats because they seem to actually be trying to do something so it might gain some votes. Democrats don't like doing that for some reason.

They don't do this specifically because then every election they can use stuff like that to say we need to elect them because otherwise Republicans will advance their push to ban LGBT stuff. That said, if they just passed the stuff and actually showed they were competent then we'd have people consistently voting for them. And instead, every 2-4 years they lose hard and Republicans push things further and further into territory we can't come back from.
