I overheard some guy from Europe say that and he has a lot of reasoning. The American health care system is broken, the American retirement system is awful, disability insurance is bad, maternity leave, and more. It also doesnt help that the rich and wealthy gets all the benefits in the USA from healthcare, to politicians, to influencing people of power to get what they want

Apparently he thinks that America needs to do more for its people like Europe does in order to be more of a first world country. He thinks America is barely better than most 3rd world countries

I dont really agree with him. How is the USA not a first world country? USA has world class cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York. Not to mention. one of the best technologically developed countries in the world

That is a third world country

Depends on what you mean by third world country but by the modern definition some parts definitely are. Considering how large the country is, the states essentially are 50 mini-countries and many of them are in disrepair and poverty. There are tons of city blocks with essentially no police system to keep order, with tent cities of homeless people and drug addicts and falling apart roads and tons of abandoned buildings etc

In no way, shape, or form is it a 3rd world country in disguise lol

2nd world - aligned with Russia
3rd world - aligned with neither

To be fair, the US no longer being aligned with the US is pretty accurate if you look at the political divide. What we have now is essentially a Cold Civil War.

There's definitely parts of the city that are 3rd world >_> Nothing but violence, drugs, and garbage everywhere. Plus some of the houses I've had to go in are appalling, with tons of junk and bugs everywhere

tbf, I feel when most people say this they are exaggerating. They just mean it is one of the only western countries that vehemently forsakes things we take for granted elsewhere and consider basic rights we've had for decades.

America is decidedly backwards in many, many ways. And it's all to the benefit of the 1% while making everyone else suffer needlessly.
