I called 911 last night around 8:30 when I noticed her struggling to get out of her chair. She wasn't able to put weight on her legs and she couldn't seem to move the right side of her body much.

We got her to the hospital within 3 hours or so, and they determined she had a blood clot. They tried to remove the clot from inside the vein, but the operation didn't work, so now it doesn't sound like there's much we can do except wait and see if the clot dissolves on its own at some point.

She had a previous stroke about 4 years ago, and she recovered from that one nearly entirely after a couple months of rehab. It sounds like this one is worse, though, and that clot is still there. I'm terrified I might lose her and I don't know what to do except wait and worry.

She's had some bleeding in her brain that was being complicated by the blood thinners she's being given. They had me sign a consent form to give her some blood-related stuff I don't really understand.

It seems like she's been getting worse for the last several hours. Unresponsive and still bleeding in the brain.

I can't lose her. I can't lose my mom just three years after losing my dad. I'm not ready

My brother and my aunt (her sister) are here with me. She has another sister, but she lives several states away.

No big changes in her condition today. The intracranial pressure seems like it's gone down, but it fluctuates, so it makes it hard to tell for sure, and she's running a temperature of 102. They're doing another MRI, but it won't be until 1:00 tonight or later.

My dad had a couple of strokes and he was looking dire. He's doing much better now tc so I hope your mom has the same chances.

i don't want to see the worse outcome but if it does happen as in passing away. try to get ahold of her to let her know the news.

i lost my father to a stroke years ago. he was too stubborn to go to the hospital.
mother died to a heart attack after forgiving her for not being there years after my father passed away.

We've let her sister know. Don't know when she'll be able to get up here, but she's at least aware, and we'll tell her of anything that happens.

Another day of no progress today. We don't really have any illusions about it anymore, since we pretty much know by now that she'd be completely paralyzed on her right side if she ever wakes up from the coma she's in. She'd need 24/7 care, and she's told us in the past that that's not how she wants to end up.

I think my brother and I are going to take shifts being by her bedside until it happens. Don't know when it'll be, but I would hate for there to be no one there with her when she goes. It's the least we can do after all she's done for us over the years.

That shit is hard man, I'm sorry you are having to go through that. My family was there when my dad passed and as tough as it was I'm glad we were there, for both him and ourselves.

Im so sorry man. Recovery certainly wont be easy but its not impossible either. Still hoping for the best.

We're waiting until Friday to see if she's made any improvements, but they also tell us it's possible she might not make it that long

i lost my dad in the same exact way (massive stroke) this year so I know what youre going through. hopefully you and your brother can be there for her in comfort care. my family was there in the room for my dad for 5 days straight and I wouldnt even think twice of not leaving his side.

Her intracranial pressure had been pretty stable around 7-10, but it jumped up into the 30s today and still hasn't gone back much below 15. This isn't looking very good.

I went through this a year ago OP. I know how awful this feeling is and how helpless it feels to just wait there. I hope your mum gets the best emergency care.

64. Her birthday is in May, so pretty close to 65.

Come to think of it, my dad was 65 when he passed. Not a good age for my family, it seems.

I'm very sorry to hear this TC.

Still no improvements. A CT scan today indicated she was bleeding a little more, but the neurologist didn't think it was putting her in immediate danger yet.

She hasn't made any real improvement this week from where she was. We're having a family meeting tomorrow about placing her on comfort care and just waiting it out.

She's gone. She passed about 30 minutes ago, just a little more than a week exactly since her stroke.

There's a huge, gaping hole in my life now that I don't think will ever be filled again.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Lost my dad this year, also 65. I know my mom will be a tougher one to deal with
