On Tuesday's episode of The Pivot Podcast, the former NBA star, 50, shares that his three daughters can "stay as long as [they] want" while his three sons "got to go" when they turn 18.

O'Neal and his ex-wife Shaunie O'Neal share four kids together Shareef, Amirah, Shaqir and Me'arah while Shaunie has a son, Myles, from a previous relationship, and O'Neal has a daughter, Taahirah, with his former girlfriend, Arnetta Yardbourgh.

"I like my girls a little bit better," O'Neal admits. "Because as a man you have to protect, provide and love your woman."

"I trust them more because they're more sensitive, they're more caring and they're thinkers," he adds of his daughters. "You know how boys are. My boys, you bring something in front of them and they're gone."

"I tell my boys when y'all get 18 you all got to go. Girls can stay as long as they want," he continues.

Asked if the former athlete was sincere in his response, O'Neal replies, "I'm dead serious."

"[The girls] can stay as long as y'all want, take your time. Go to college, get your master's, get your doctorate, I'll pay for it, take your time," he says.

So the dudes have to grind, assuming he doesn't pay or do anything for them after they leave. But I bet they get trust funds or scholarships set up most likely.

I mean they have no reason to stick around, they probably have more money than most people will ever have at 18 just from random shit or an allowance or whatever. Itd be easy to move out when your dad is a famous celebrity athlete

They can get into any college they want with that money then fuck around for four to five years getting grades good enough to get by then get handed a high paying job due to family connections. Dont pity the privileged.

Not even, the "head out to succeed on your own as you become an adult" thing is contemporary and only really an American ideal. Like, it started roughly a century ago.

If he at least lets the boys graduate high school or whatever then it's not absolutely fucking horrendous. Only super duper fucked up and shit parenting. Either way we should mock him for being a crappy human being.

My dad's Southern European parents were furious when he got married and moved out. Shaq's mindset is purely a western thing of the last 50 years.

Shaqs daughters are probably ugly and really tall so it might be hard for them to get married off

They could be in the corner room of your big ass mansion, one that you never use thats as big is an insanely expensive apartment and youd never notice.
