How do so many demons show up at the dark tournament...?.

I feel like the lore of the series goes back and forth about how hard it is for demons to enter the human world but in the dark tournament there are thousands of them

Didn't the Dark Tournament take place in the Demon World?

I think it's only difficult for A rank and above to enter? That's why stretchy neck had to nerf himself.

The barrier between worlds is focused on keeping out the S and A class demons

Due to this B, C and lower can sneak through. Toguro who was the strongest fighter at the tournament is B class.

So all of those demons can be there without any plot holes existing from it.

One of the best anime's ever imo

Most of those thousands are weak spectators. The only even decent fighters in the tournament are D class, you could argue C and even then, only Team Uremeshi and Team Toguro had anyone remotely close to B Class in Younger Toguro.

Yeah but they make a big deal about insects being able to sneak through which was uncommon when it should be the easiest for them and aren't they what gave all the humans their psychic powers or whatever?

The guy who Toguro kills was likely a B Class as well.

I would put all the surviving demons in C tier, maybe lower B based on how the scale seems to be exponential. Koenma says at the end of the tournament Hiei is mid B tier, so at the start he's probably mid C at absolute worst. So I would put most of their prime competition around the same, mid C to low B. Considering Bui was straight up scared of Hiei he was probably lower B himself..given the leap between what we assume is Hiei and Younger Toguro.

The bugs were only uncommon in that massive influx because Gatekeeper was messing with the barrier.

And their developing powers was only attributed to again gatekeeper messing with the barrier right away under their city. Thats why at the time all of the new psychics were from the same city

Kurama kind of puts in the work during this arc huh

This storyline is the low point of the series. It's worth getting through though since the final arc is amazing.

The... Demon World Tournament Arc? It was atrocious. Worst Arc in YYH by a mile. If it had somehow gotten another Arc beyond that, I legit think I wouldn't have watched it.
