My female friend was just telling me a Jewish man brought his ~2 yr old daughter to a women's restroom at the mall. Apparently, a woman freaked out on the man upon seeing him. Moments later, he grabbed his daughter from the stall, her clothes in disarray from the abrupt action. She appeared startled by the entire situation, says my friend. She claims the woman continued screaming at the Jewish man as he said the following: "But, she's a girl."

The woman appeared very disturbed by the incident, but my friend believes it was an honest cultural mistake. My friend stepped politely in the middle of the two people until the man and daughter left the restroom.

Was the father wrong? Was the upset lady wrong? Just a simple mistake that he will learn from?

I think the real problem is that her mother canceled her soda subscription. The man also should have tried to explain they were going to take her to one of those water weighing things, even though her brother really didn't like the idea.

Generally the adult takes the child into the bathroom corresponding to the adults sex in that situation, I can see why someone would be startled.

On the one hand, it's like, why is he Jewish? I mean, I don't know why a person joins any religion of their choosing. That's personal, I suppose!

But the question is different. You asked why does it matter that he's Jewish? It's a detail in the story. Like the red car I saw today while driving on the highway. It's a detail pertaining to the car. The car was red, not blue. The man is Jewish, not Buddhist nor Christian.

It's the nature of online rhetoric to find faults or reason to nitpick. These things generally don't happen in real life when speech is faster. I've noticed that, too.

I'm pretty sure using the wrong bathroom has nothing to do with Jewish culture.

I think when a parent is taking a child to the restroom, they should go with the sex of the parent. I'd take my daughter in the men's. Shorter lines overall. I'd make sure to clean the seat first, tho.

In a public bathroom? I'd never make them sit down even with that paper seat covering thing. With boys I just pick them up and kind of... aim at the general direction of the toilet bowl. I'll admit with girls I have no idea how to handle it, ideally I'd never have to.

A certain type of person likes pointing out when someone is Jewish for absolutely no reason. I'll let you guess why.

Fathers should never take their daughters to the restroom. They should wait near the entrance and ask for the help of a trustworthy looking stranger. If no such person is around, they should call the local police on their non emergency line and ask for assistance.

I thought malls had family restrooms just for this reason

So when this grown ass adult human female saw this completely different adult male enter the restroom with what was clearly his female child in tow her reaction was to scream as if she were an annoying extra in an action movie? Like, all rationality was thrown through the window and this woman was screaming her lungs off?

Cause I feel like whatever the reason for this dude entering her reaction seems pretty farcical and histrionic.

Well I think the woman could have acted a little more mature,if he was obviously just taking his toddler to the bathroom. Perhaps there weren't family bathrooms nearby and he wasn't sure? Not every place has family bathrooms.
