Asians working in nail salons, restaurants, manufacturing, house keeping, and other jobs that don't require advanced education = wealthy upbringing now

About 60% of Asians in America are immigrants, and immigrants tend to perform better than natives since they generally actually came to the country with a plan.

Otherwise it's differences in culture and aptitude. Asians kinda floor everyone else in these areas.

I mentioned my parents saved enough to open a restaurant one time, and CE started acting like I was rolling in money.

Being an Asian restaurant kid is not some glamorous shit. You spend your childhood peeling snowpeas and cleaning tables while seeing your peers spending vacations at the Bahamas and playing sports after school.

I'm assuming more Asians are brought over in high demand fields where as Hispanics aren't?

I don't think its anything as stupid as "ASIANS WORK HARDER"

I know a lot of Indians and Asians who came over to work for Qualcomm and other tech places here in SD

Because working at Qualcomm and other tech places doesn't require working harder?

From my experience (Hispanic), from immigrant parents, they're pretty much just happy that their kids got a college degree. There's really no push to make connections where you can get a lucrative job. A dream for a lot of Hispanics is to own their own business, so the level of wealth you see will vary a lot.

The Hispanics I've seen in high paying, lucrative jobs here are usually expats from Latin American countries, and they usually come from an upper class upbringing (usually white too).

Asian culture puts a high emphasis on getting an education and being successful before settling down. Doctor or engineer usually hammered by 1st generation parents.

I tutored an Asian girl whose family owned a Chinese restaurant. They were willing to pay out $100 for a tutoring session when I was fine doing it for free. And the lass told me about how gungho her parents were with her schoolwork, to the point where they were actively monitoring and optimizing her diet since she was a swimmer. I had to respect the dedication and investment they were putting into their kid.

This also reminds me of an Indian buddy of mine back in uni, immigrated from India to the US for college, he told me that Indians are all told at a young age; investment banker, medical doctor, engineer, scientist CHOOSE ONE.

I'll speak for myself and other Asians that I know that are making decent money, but most of them are from East Asian connections like Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans. I'm Vietnamese and my parents had to do a lot of foot kissing just to help me with my career. Luckily I managed to get into a pretty well known CPA firm here in Los Angeles from the connections I made at the accounting club I joined (the Senior Manager at the time was impressed I managed to keep a 3.5 GPA while being a full time manager and a full time student while graduating College debt free). And let me tell you, my years in College were not fun at all.

This makes total sense. My sister went into the medical field so my dad was sort of able to help her get opportunities as he's also a medical doctor. Since I opted for tech, I was shit out of luck since my parents had no clue about the field and didn't have much of a network with people in the field. I'll have to start considering investing in a network as this is a major factor in finding and maintaining success.

Just what are your intentions here? Are we not allowed to discuss the differences in cultures?
