Star Wars has died and gone to streaming service Heaven. Marvel is running on fumes. They don't want to admit it, but the party is nearly over.

It would be wise to ride out the final wave, however long that takes, then reboot after another 5 years or so. Kids aged 7 to 13 won't be burnt out. Most of them will not have seen the original Avengers movie or the solo films leading up to it. But what of the meantime?

The reason the MCU hasn't completely died yet because the films have been fairly solid in terms of quality. Sure a lot of them (especially the origin/solo films) were very formulaic, but for the most part they have been hits after hits. Even bad ones like Thor 2, Iron Man 2&3, Captain Marvel, and Eternals aren't the worst of filming history. At worst they're mediocre, it's only when they release mediocre films after mediocre films will the MCU start falling apart... like what happened with the DCEU (thanks Hack Snyder).

yea IIRC in endgame when peter and thor are standing at the dashboard, the screen says something like "scanning" and has a computerized face of gamora. i suspect that's going to be act 1, the search. it's not going to be the whole plot of the movie, they may or may not even find her (casting lists of course would spoil this in some capacity, though they could be just flashbacks), but it'll be addressed. she was not with them at the end of endgame.

Jane Thor in the comics was very meh, but I am hopeful the MCU will do it a lot better.

I'm betting that first act is them searching together and Thor leaving them to find himself, and GOG3 is going to be them continuing the search.

What honestly dragged Shang Chi, to an otherwise really good movie, down was the third act when it became a CGI fest. The final battle should've been more hand to hand combat oriented with maybe some CGI mix in there to feel more "epic".

He never gets cancelled. People try to stick him for stuff but because he's never actually done them personally it doesn't work.

Aaanyway, about the trailer. Not really too hyped about the movie judging from the first trailer, but then again it's working in the same phase as multiverse shenanigans with Dr. Strange and Spider-Man. Maybe they'll do something with the multiverse here too.

I think he's referring to the fact that the last few MCU movies have all been fairly serious (Eternals, Black Widow, Shang-Chi, No Way Home, soon-to-be Doctor Strange MoM). The most lighthearted thing we got from the MCU over the past year was the Hawkeye TV show.

The trailer was cool. Didn't really show anything that we didn't already know about but I'm glad that it appears this movie will still be leaning into the cosmic stuff like Ragnarok and GotG did. Also surprised they didn't show Christian Bale as Gorr the God-Butcher.

Also in case people haven't realized, the reason why the MCU hasn't fallen off yet is because people still really enjoy these characters and want to see what they get into next. That's been the biggest strength of the MCU. They legitimately got people to care more about the cinematic version of Korg than the DCEU's version of Superman.

It was part of Strange's plan. And hell most of them would understand why he freaked out when he learned Thanos killed Gamora and wouldnt treat him too harshly based on that.

Did he fuck it up? Sure.

But let's not pretend Thanos didn't personally break him in a way more unique than near everyone else, at the time.

Hedid more personal damage to Quill by killing a loved one, which nobody else present could say (as strongly). Moreover, this was a father figure, talking about how he "had to" sacrifice his child, approximately 20 minutes after Quill had to grapple with the business with Yondu and Ego. What happened and what Thanos said to justify it hit Quill in a uniquely damaging way (Note that he's not just shouting random crap about killing Thanos for what he did. He's going off about how Thanos did not "have to" do it.

The man hardly deserves to be torn down forever for having a very human moment. Literally everybody else there would have done the same if Thanos hurt them as badly.

And for what it's worth, Quill actuallypulled the trigger when Gamora asked . More than can be said for some people like Wanda, whose waffling much more actively doomed everybody.

Besides, Strange could have teleported Quill to Brazil or something, before the first blow was even a thought in his head. This scenario was engineered by a wizard playing 5d hyperchess.

I just wish Quill had shot Thanos instead of halfheartedly pistol-whipping him. It would've been more in-character considering how he reacted to Ego dropping the bomb about murdering his mom, and it's not like big bad Thanos would've ended up with anything more than some burn marks on the side of his face. I think the audience would've been a little more sympathetic if Quill could've at least channeled his uncontrollable rage into something that might have done some damage.

It gets handwaved away because it was all part of Dr. Strange's plan. The exact scenario with Endgame was the only path to beat Thanos.

I feel like people watch too many movies and forget how real humans act. It is the same with people annoyed with fat Thor, when that is a very realistic outcome for someone suffering.

The problem with Fat Thor wasn't Fat Thor, it's that they largely just used him being Fat Thor for comic relief.

This. I dont hate Fat Thor for getting fat. I hate that he's basically just used as a fat joke for the whole damn movie, to the point where it DOWNPLAYS his suffering. He can't get a single sad moment without drowning himself in chips and skittles for a cheap laugh.

FFS, they retconned his own mother's literal last words to him to be "Eat a salad."
