If you choose lavish lifestyle then you are 100% guaranteed that since you are born you will be set for life and wont have to work or do anything that you dont want to in order to survive. However at the age of 60 you are guaranteed to die.

If you choose to live a normal life, then you are born as any typical baby with no guarantees. You could end up in a poor or rich family. You will need to learn how to take care of yourself and try to find a job in order to survive etc. You might have a normal lifespan (90+ years old) but you could also just die on an accident at an early age. In other words you have a standard human life.

I already assume Ill die by 72. No man on my dads side (that I know of) has lived past that age despite many of them appearing relatively healthy. On the other hand, my moms side routinely live past 90 despite drinking/smoking into their early 80s. So I guess well see whose genetics are stronger.

its admittedly extremely concerning as my dad is approaching his 60s and I worry I may only have 10-12 years left with him.

This.

Especially if I retain even the vaguest awareness of what growing up poor was like.

Longevity is in my bloodline, so I'll still be functioning well past 60. Even if I'm not rich, a few more decades of video games is priceless.

You made this poll too easy. Shouldve done 40 years (which is close to half normal life expectancy).

Quality over quantity. Most people have at least some serious health issues by age 60, so quality of life often declines significantly after that point, if not before then. If you have a ton of money, you can at least do everything in your power to make those 60 years as enjoyable as possible. Honestly, I'd probably take this deal even if the cutoff were set at age 40 or 50 instead.

The plot twist in this poll is actually that the same logic of anyone's answer can be applied to justify why or why not raising animals for the sole purpose of eating them is good.

For example, a chicken in the wild would be "free" but most likely perish at a young age. Whereas a chicken born and raised in captivity has their life solved but they are guaranteed a (hopefully painless) death once they go to the grinder.

I wonder if anyone would change their vote if I were to frame the question on what's best for a chicken.

I mean, I can get where you're coming from, but that comparison doesn't work at all. Most prey animals and even most predators in the wild have neither quality nor quantity of life. And chickens raised in a factory-farming operation have stable lives, but their quality of life is awful and they still die at a very young age.
