This is why I go to my theater on Tuesdays. Tickets to any movie are five bucks and there are pretty significant discounts on concessions as well.

Edit: The tips still add up, but the discounts make it like a $42 trip instead of $50, so it's worth it.

we're getting screwed over by it. a large soda is double that of what a restaurant would charge.

just a popcorn and drink is $16+
there was a recent news report that said an ounce of popcorn at the movie theaters is more expensive than an oz of filet mignon. We allowed allowed this!

That might be it, I've never liked popcorn and usually get some candy or nachos if they have it.

I manage a theater and everything is digital. Features and trailers transmitted via satellite. Putting a show together is just clicking and dragging files for the most part.

This, it's really exclusively my movie day in a week if I want to see something. I don't really get concessions though. I usually eat meals before/after, etc.

A way cheaper theater closed down here in town where it was like $2 on Tuesdays (they showed movies like three months after they initially came out, etc). Really crushed me.

It's a lot cheaper to eat before the movie, of course, but my dad and I think that getting some popcorn, a soda, and maybe some candy to eat during the show is integral to the experience.

It's super expensive but it's part of our budget every time.

AMC A-list is awesome. $23 a month for up to 3 movies a week. No restrictions on the time or type of screen.

I watch like 4 or 5 movies in the theater a month now

Yeah, I can see that. My mom does the same thing, always wants the big popcorn/soda. For me though, I'm cheap as hell lol. I frequently go to the movies alone too.

For a while, when movies were coming out on HBO Max and the like, we'd go out and get some microwave popcorn, some candy, and a couple of sodas from the gas station to watch them.

It wasn't the same, but it was close.

You got microwave popcorn, that was the problem.

Too fresh, shoulda gotten the stuff the station made for the authentic "this corn was popped by the Pilgrims" experience.

It's not cheap, but I still like going to the theatre 3-4 times a year. I joined like a rewards club which helps at the concession stand and go to matinees so there's less of a bite.

I just like the experience.

That said, the experience is increasingly being ruined by people who just don't know how to act in public. Like STFU and keep your smartphone in your pocket asshole.
