Yeah that's pretty much the final nail in the coffin for the series. Last week they put out all this information and we were barely scratching the surface but now? no one cares

Im looking forward to it, probably gonna have a bunch of marvel and Star Wars stuff, and hopefully they learned their lesson from KH3 being so bad

I just can't do it anymore.

It's supposed to be 1-3 years away. Square being square that's probably 5 years. I can't maintain hype that long.

The problem is its hard to get excited for it. Like, who knows when itll actually come out? Overhyping, and the ridiculous wait, kind of killed KHIII for me. It was still a good game but I feel like there was no real momentum.

I don't see the point in getting hype for it when it's likely going to be years away from coming out still.

How much more hype were you expecting over a reveal trailer that didn't show any real gameplay? The fans know it's years away, so there's not much to go on right now.

Yeah the dialogue, anime grunts, and those awkward pauses get annoying real fast especially for a game with bajillion cutscenes. I could tolerate them as a kid, but now I prefer watching cutscenes with people talking like actual human beings.

As mentioned,the trailer didn't really show anything. It was just Sora waking up in the city he was left in at the end of the KH3 DLC and meeting a character that only the people that played the mobile games would have a clue about.

Came and went? The board was full of topics about the trailers for a few days. Are we supposed to talk about his lack of big shoes for years?

It was basically a concept trailer lol

You expect people to talk about it for months on end until we get the next trailer?

I'm still like this on BoTW, even though it's probably early next year. I just haven't seen anything to get me hyped. Floating islands sound cool, but not "holy shit I can't wait to play this" cool.

I stopped caring about KH after I beat KHII and realized how trash the story was.

So this is yet another game announced way to early. damn you square!

1- after kh3, people are tired. It was a long wait.

2- we know it wont come out for a million years

BotW2 was announced in 2019 and likely would have been out already if it wasnt for Covid.

I mean...how much hype can a short teaser for a game that's 5 years off at best generate?

I doubt it. Zelda games are habitually delayed, and as games get more complex I feel those delay windows tend to increase. COVID or not, I had every expectation that it would be at least 3 years before we saw the game released.

I'm fine with it, as they release good games, but it's hard to maintain hype over that period of time, especially when we really know nothing about the game aside from it having a sky element.

That's because everyone had it preordered for like half price (especially in Canada) from like almost 5 years before it finally ended up releasing, and of course the hype for it was insane.

And then it ended up being super mediocre and killed the vast majority of the hype for the series.

Plus it doesn't help that they're still releasing shit like Melody of Memory and including important story plot points in it.

It hasnt even been 3 years since it was originally announced. It was supposed to released this year, not mention it was being built off of the existing BotW engine which would speed up production. Also youre really underestimating just how much Covid slowed down the industry.

At the time of announcement there wasn't a release date. Given the recent track record I had every reason to believe it would be delayed. Even moreso when COVID hit. I'm not underestimating the pandemic's impact. I work in an industry severely impacted from COVID's downstream effects. If anything I acknowledge it as an additional factor, but I'm hard pressed to believe it was the sole reason for a delay given the history.

My point is that it's hard to maintain hype for a game announced in a series/developer known for development delays, especially over the course of years. When more gameplay is shown and a release window given, I'm sure excitement will increase and that wave will ride out for a while. As it stands, there's not much to say.
