When is it not realistic to use turn signals? Cause letting other drivers know what you're doing is the entire point and I'd argue it's a way more precarious situation when you're not doing that.

Then you use that knowledge that it's going to happen and intentionally trigger it so that those people pass you up and you can go behind them when it's clear.

Happens all the time. It's much easier to change lanes without a turn signal because people don't have time to block you
Or you can let people pass ahead of you, you don't have to always be in front.

Just a car guy joke. I traded in the Bimmer for an Accord in 2021. Now I have cameras on both sides that activate when you signal. It's pretty dope, actually.

I live in LA, I use my signal all the effing time.

I know people want to cut me off, so I intentionally use my blinkers to get them to move ahead of me and I can take the open spot behind them.

I'm right about 96% of the time, so I use that fact to create a opening by triggering those drivers into speeding up and moving ahead so I have a nice clear spot to take behind them.

I knew when you said hit the signal and the guy speeds up that you were from FL. Shits wild down here lol.

The trick is to make sure you have plenty of room in front of you, then accelerate/signal. Then just leave it on for a seconds after you merge to troll the guy.

Lol!! I do the same thing as you because people always do that to me, too, so I stopped putting signals when changing lanes on the highway since their egos can't handle me passing them, but I do use my turn signals in every other situation it's expected.

I used to think something like this but not because of your reasoning. I used to wonder if the traffic light detected if people were waiting by the turn signal. As in, it was the only way the light knew people were waiting, not to punish people who weren't using the light. But I found out there's a scale under the asphalt...or maybe a magnet. There's something there lol.
