Is it mostly straight men?

As a gay dude I wouldn't be into that but I'm curious what dating is like for someone trans.

Mostly women in my case, but I don't really let men perceive me that much. All of the men that I do spend time with are either coworkers or friends who know that I'm gay, so they know better than to hit on me.

I'm not really putting myself out there RE: dating, so I can't really speak too much to this. Sometimes I think about making a tinder or whatever just to see what I get.

I have not been hit on anyone lately. I think the fact I still wear masks in public and I am just home all the time helps this.

But there was one New Years Eve probably 5 or so years ago when I was up in Boston waiting for the local LGBT Bar's NYE bash. I sat outside of a store in a mall eating a salad and a guy came up to me and even invited me to join him at some kind of rooftop party. I didn't go with him for safety reasons and all..... but he did show interest.

Then there was another time longer back I wanted some platonic friends. Met with a guy to hang out and he wanted to kiss at a point or two, pay for my dinner and more. I never saw him again after that day.

The other times, I was presenting male at work and after work, I went to a super walmart. The deli guy who really seemed flamboyant, was staring me down.

I really can't say I have any other situations IRL.

I've only ever been hit on by (presumably straight) men, out in public.

On the internet, i've been hit on by both men and women.

I haven't had any dudes hit on me. Only women compliment my looks and dress. (and the lady I just started seeing is very open and consistent with the fact she thinks I'm hot)
I hardly ever go out anywhere though, and I wouldn't want dudes hitting on me anyway.

Mostly guys but when I am out women and girls do compliment me on my makeup and accessories and hair. I get hit on by girls most often when I actually do the tried and true "your hair's amazing" line to a girl with dyed hair that is one of the "I'm not cishet" colors. Like certain greens and most purples.

Yeah, I complimented a girl with neon red hair yesterday and she really genuinely smiled and thanked me and that made me feel good.

It reminded me of a (straight? she's in a relationship with a dude, at least) cis lady friend telling me she loves it when other women compliment her appearance or makeup, but feels uncomfortable when men (at least, men who are strangers) compliment her.

Yep. Women dress up for other women. A girl who knows how hard it is to get good eyeliner done? Getting told I did a good job feels good. A guy who has never touched makeup praising my 2 minute blush look? This is ez mode, anyone who can reach their face and isn't addled with Parkinsons could do it.
