I would guess that there is a much higher proportion of people who live outside the Anglosphere and speak English as a foreign or second language than back then, but you notice them less or even think of them as American because they've practically grown up absorbing the language through exposure to foreign media, largely of US origin --- equites quattuor in saeculum saeculi 4h4l ...
