Dumb word

Between this word and "foyer" from a few days ago, I might switch my opener to something with uncommon letters like maybe sixty, query, or waltz. It would probably increase my average number of guesses, but probably help me keep my streaks going.

So Wordle is a fun little word game where you have six guesses to figure out a five letter word. When you guess a word, any letters that are in the "key" word will light up - green if the letter is in the right place, and yellow if the letter is in the word, but not in the correct space.

I'll use mine from today as an example (since the day is almost over anyways)

So, todays word was "Oxide".

My first guess was "Plaid" - the yellow "I" and "D" told me the final word had an "I" and "D", but not in the last two letters like in "Plaid"
Guess number two was "Diner" - taking the two letters I knew where somewhere in the word and trying a new placement. It turns out the start of the word wasn't quite right either, and also that the final word also has an "E" somewhere.
Guess number three was "Indie" - doubling up on the "I" was a bad decision in hindsight, because it didn't give me any new information. It did however tell me the last letter was "E"
Guess number 4 was "Pride" - which told me the word I was looking for had an -IDE ending.

However with that came a new problem - there are a lot of words that end in -IDE. There are a couple possible solutions to this, like trying the many different words ending in -IDE and hoping to get lucky (the approach I took), or trying a completely new word to get rid of your extra letters to try and find what else is in the word.

Not proud of this one. Couldn't think of any words with o that would've worked after guess 3, so kept trying other words to get some letters. No joke, took my brain about a minute to process what an "olive" was once I got it.
