First of all we have SEVEN squat racks, which is awesome, but we also have almost zero space for anything else. You need to bench? Squat rack. You need to do seated shoulder press? Squat rack. You need to curl? Squat rack.

Do you know how much of an asshole I feel doing inverted rows in the fucking squat rack?

Secondly, our resident skinnyfat gym PT chooses 7pm on a monday (easily the busiest time of the gym) to host his one class of the week, where he takes up 3 of the squat racks and platforms to do lunges and kettlebell movements.

We have an entire studio next door that remains locked and unused except for spin bike classes. All that fucking space and all it gets used for is an hour slot for people to cycle.

Well at least the squat racks are good right? Wrong. Our plates are ancient and mismatched and all it takes is one or two half competent powerlifters to completely suck up all the 45s.

Also this gym costs me $50 a month. Yay.

Damn your gym is small. My gym is pretty big, with about 5 squat racks, 5 bench areas, 2 large rooms for classes, etc and I only pay 25 a month.
You need to find a better gym.

I always got annoyed with gyms having one or two benches and little squat racks when you know thats what people want to do. Thats why I ended up making my second garage into a little gym

I feel for you buddy. My gym is great. It has a sauna that I didnt think Id use much but use pretty much every time now, but I do have to wait for a machine every now and then. I worry about getting overcharged but the way you describe your gym makes me happy I only pay $35

yep, bit of a high upfront cost but its great. I still might get a cheap membership to a different gym just so I can use their sauna, steam room, and track

My biggest pet peeves with my gym is that we only have 2 fly machines, which are back to back. So at any given time, there's like a 90% chance that either they're both taken, or there's one person using both of them alternating.

My wife and I will drop what we're doing at a moment's notice when we see them open lol.

Are all gyms like this in UK? Guess I've been taking my $30 LA fitness for granted...

They're not tbh. There are some franchises in the city that are regular commercial gyms.

Nearby me there are two other gyms I like the look of, so I might switch.
