The first one was shitty enough that I didn't watch the 2nd. Didnt know there was more, why?

Yeah, we watched the first one at a drunken movie night in college.

Now we didnt mind serious slow movies, but we were already taking shots and thought we were getting some gritty action movie...

Yeah, the first film was promoted as an action movie, and it's not that at all

The marketing was a huge lie for Jarhead.

Jarhead was good, but the sequels just devolved into oorah nonsense that entirely missed the point of the first one.

I literally dont remember anything from the original, except maybe a part with some oil?

What kind of movie was it?

Mental stress and horrors of war kind of thing, without a shot ever being fired iirc.

What people expected due to misleading trailers is what the sequels did it sounds like.

The first one was based on a book that was written by and detailed the real life events of the main character when he was a Marine in Desert Storm.

The sequels where low budget straight to DVD generic action flicks based on complete fantasy and had zero ties to the original film, pretty much just used the same name to sell DVDs lol.

I didn't know this movie was well known, I found the first one in a bargain bin 10 years ago and watched it, was ok.

I just remember one scene where the guy's girlfriend video tapes herself having sex with other guys and mailing it to him and getting turned on >_> . Because now porn started doing those scenarios

That's a shame. The first one was pretty good and felt real unlike many war films

Sounds about right given the subject matter makes no sense for sequels so obviously anyone could take a wild guess they'd be just porn for CoD addicts.
