This is the only war I can think of where "we got bombed" and "our own shit blew up in our faces" are equally likely outcomes for one side.

And NOT the massively outnumbered side.

A fine situation Russia finds themselves in here. Either it was Ukraine and we have to admit that they're strong enough to attack targets within our borders, or it was an accident and we're just incompetent.

Obviously this was a Wallace and Grommit style operation perpetrated by a platoon of Ukranian Chickens.

Known as Operation Cocked and Loaded it was considered a resounding success. However, authorities say however that the mission could not have been accomplished without the heroic sacrifice of First Sergeant Pyotr Cokavic who charged head first across the road and into the ammo dump.

Finally answering the question, why did the chicken cross the road?

Clearly this was just a disused and faulty site they were getting rid of themselves to ensure no harm came to LOYAL citizens of GLORIOUS RUSSIA and to make sure that Ukraine didn't get their hands on all these valuable resources.
