If you havent been here before then you should do as much of the touristy stuff as you can. Visit the Statue of Liberty, walk through Central Park, go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, see a Yankees or Mets Game and go on one of those city tour buses lol --- Fire tempers iron and temptation steels the just ... Cherry Blossoms are fully bloom right now so places like Corona Park are bright and pink. Smorgasburg is coming back with lots of food options in April. Personally I would check out a museum.
