I'll give you an example, the 3 major Credit monitoring companies: Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax - if you request a Credit Report they charge you $1 for it - BUT THEY ADD YOU TO THEIR MONTHLY LIST and will charge you $19.99 a month automatically until canceled. Things like this you really don't know about until you see the charge on your card on the 31st day.
