Do a little bit of research.

  1. The Red Wolf is descended from Coyotes and Wolves with about equal % of both.
  2. There are a stable number of them in captivity.
  3. Attempts to reintroduce them into the wild have failed on multiple occasions. The population they are talking about is one of the reintroduction efforts failing again.

Yeah, I just read about this. It seems a good number of them keep getting hit by cars. At least that's what Wikipedia made it sound like.
