I don't mean the type of people who are like 50lbs overweight

I mean fat as fuck people. Like who are 350lbs+ and clearly not athletic in any way
how do they live and survive and like continue to get fatter
how does this work

Probably because the fatter you get, it probably gets harder to do physical activities and you can become lazy. Although I am assuming a horrible diet contributes too.

Sedentary lifestyle and food addiction. Just one of these will be make you chubby but both at the same will make you obese.

People who like to eat really should lift weights or live a more active lifestyle to support their insane calorie intake. Least that food will be put to good use.

As a fat fuck, I have to assume it's because of a bad diet.
I'm willing to blame genetics but I'm not going to blame them entirely when I eat at most two salads a month and by accident.

If I believed 100% that my fitbit was accurate I get anywhere between 10k-20k steps 4 days a week at my work but I'm still as fat as I am so I at least move a good amount.

I assume the mindset is there before it even becomes a visible problem. If it was unintentional you'd think once they need the next clothes size it'd sound some alarms in their mind. Falling into the fuck it, who cares? mindset with no outside intervention though, could take you from 0 to deathly poor health pretty efficiently.

Yeah the mindset is usually the root of the problem. People overeat to cope with negative emotions and the short term comfort of food outweighs the long term health problems in their mind. The word "diet" is bad because it implies that it's a temporary thing that you do to lose weight, when in reality you need to permenantly change your lifestyle and habits to lose and maintain weight loss.

As a pfp (previously fat person), the amount of exercise really doesn't have as big an effect as you'd expect. Obviously exercise is always good and you are making a difference. But to get those sizes, you need to eat a lot. Nobody gets to those sizes just by skipping the gym. It's like blaming a car crash on the wall it hits. Sure, if the wall was somewhere else the car would have been fine for now. But it was going to hit something eventually.
