Granted, Encanto was more general and focused on an entire family, whereas Turning Red is specifically about one girl going through adolescence/puberty/growing up, but it just seems weird that Disney would allow two movies so similar in message and theming to be released within 5 months of each other.

Both are about teenage girls and their relationship with the matriarch of their respective families. Said matriarch in each is, due to love and emotional baggage, unintentionally hurting their family with their expectations and pressure, largely expressed through tradition and a strict adherence to family before self.

I know that movies like Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and especially Mulan have touched on these themes before, but theyve never been as much of a focus as they are in these films.

Knowing how Disney is with its properties, you would think theyd have spaced these releases out some.

If you write a fanfic they can do whatever you want them too.

By teams I meant the production teams

A lot of Disney films now are about Generational Trauma, which is very common among minority households since a lot of us are second/third generation millenials in western countries. It would make sense that a lot of the creative staff would have more experience (and grew up with it) with that than previous Disney films, that while a little of it was there, didn't play an integral role in the overall story like the newer Disney films like Coco, Encanto, and Turning Red.

Definitely more relatable than old witches wanting to kill pretty young girls.
