1st call was a rape. Some chick at a club said someone drugged her, brought her to a hotel, and raped her. It's always hard to evaluate rape victims because she was non-stop crying, but you have to ask difficult questions to get details of the rape for the report to give to police and hospital case workers. Usually the female partner is the one to talk to the rape victim and comfort her, but tonight me and my partner were both male, so I had to do it.

Next call was a dude who was bipolar or something and was threatening to stab people. Turns out he didn't have a weapon luckily. While I was evaluating him, I had to poke my head out to ask police something and when I pulled it in, he was rummaging through a cabinet looking for a needle. It was only 2 seconds but it was so stupid of me to take my eyes off him. I know better than that, but I guess I was tired and wasn't thinking clearly >_> Thankfully he didn't pull anything on the way to the hospital

Then I got 2 DUIs in a fucking row, but luckily no one was hurt. One was a rollover and the chick immediately admitted to police that she was drunk lol. She broke her arm, but somehow wasn't hurt otherwise. The other was some lady that slammed into a telephone pole and was also drunk as FUCK. She said she knew some police sergeant, which I replied "I don't care lol". Cops took her in anyway. Which means I'm gonna have to go to court as a prosecutor witness for both DUIs now. Ugh >_>

Finally just non-stop junkies I had to try to revive; at least 5 >_> Only one died, but the one that did die was the father of a family and his kid found him in the bathroom dead, which was pretty depressing.

I'm tired as FUCK!

Yeah, I think they did narcan? Didn't have any at the house, not used to that kind of thing. Was pretty wild though, she wasn't breathing, looked dead. Legit thought that might be it, about to lose a sibling for the first time. Luckily turned out okay (except that I'm pretty sure she's still on the shit -_- )

Jesus, thats awful. Whatever gripes I have at work are looking pretty petty right now >_>

Yeah, that's naloxone, also called "Narcan". It forces out of opioids out of some receptors in the brain and can wake them up within a few minutes. Some of the junkies I woke up last night needed like 6mg of narcan to wake them, which is a lot.

idk how much it costs but we use that stuff like candy here >_> I would definitely keep a few around if it's financially feasible. Unfortunately heroin addicts usually will go right back to abusing even after near-death experiences. Honestly the only way to help them is usually through extreme intervention, like placing them in a rehab facility far away from where they are, so they're cut off from any contact with heroin dealers they're familiar with.

Wow thats very heavy stuff to deal with. Im very sorry. I have a lot of respect for the kind of work you do. I know I could never without breaking down mentally. I hope you take care of yourself after rough shifts like that.

This isn't the first time I've heard you vent about your horror stories at work.

When you are in it you see the trauma as routine but when you are out you see how crazy it all is.

Just take care of yourself dude, I know you've been stretched pretty thin.

To be fair, that was an abnormal amount of heavy stuff in a night >_> I usually get 10 calls a night but only like 1 of them is something heavy, not half of them.

lol true. Usually I feel like 30% of the calls are actually sick and the other 70% are just dumb shit, like a tooth ache or the classic "I've had chest pain.....for the last 2 weeks and I felt like calling 911 at 2am cuz idk lawl"

Oh no, he died hours ago. His kid found him in the bathroom. We couldn't open the door all the way because his body collapsed along the wall where the door would go when you opened it. Somehow I slipped in and moved him to open the door all the way, but he was stiff as a board when I checked >_>

Usually if family is there, it's kinda upsetting because they're crying and everything. But if it's just a dead body by itself with no one around, it's just whatever >_> I'm so used to seeing it.

Abdominal pain and drunks Im guessing right. If your a medic like someone else said Im guessing unconscious patients that 9/10 are just drunks and cardiac diff breathers that are just sick people.

Drunks, homeless people sleeping, people who have had back pain for 3 weeks and not done a thing about it, etc... I've gone to 911 calls for broken TVs, asking for a ride to a friend's house, people hoping I'd give them a COVID test, the lost goes on.

lol one time this dad called me to check his daughter so she could get a sick note for school. I'm like "Bruh, this isn't what 911 is for. Take her to her doctor if you want that."
