Does anyone else think so? As someone who never used Twitter, it is mildly disturbing. Anything of remote significance in popular culture or in humanitarian issues is reduced to asinine hashtags. Everyone types like a 4th grader in order to make character limits or simply to reach a broader audience.

Apart from that macro-deterioration of our human culture, it's causing more tangibly annoying things too. Gov run agencies will forgo updating their websites, but will instead update Twitter with vitally important information (I'm looking at you avalanche/snow people, forest service, fish/game/wildlife, etc).

It's so fucking weird.

That's how it wouldn't be weird. My point is that it is becoming or has already become the primary source for again, vital information.

I agree. They also have way too much power/control. People defend them for being a private company being able to ban or censor what they want. But then they have platforms for governmental bodies to spread information, even terrorist organisations at one point (From what I remember).

Its pretty crazy.
