Have had a TCL TV for like 4 years now, debating on grabbing an LG OLED C1.

The difference between reg switch and OLED are negligible if you mostly play it docked.

No you won't. I have been using an LG CX as my main gaming screen with consoles and PC hooked to it. If you don't leave the screen on the same picture for multiple hours you won't get burn in. It even refreshes itself

Aren't OLED screens these days much better? Some dude made a YouTube video on how their OLED switch finally had some burn in after 3600 hours of it being on the same screen

Yeah. You pretty much have to try to get burn in for it to happen

i did what you want to do

i went from a 300 dollar TCL 4k TV with "HDR" to a LG C1 OLED

its night and day. the HDR on my old tv is a fucking joke. the lg's blacks are P E R F E C T and it gets bright enough to have REAL hdr. im embarrassed i thought my old tv was good. its trash.

plus, 4k 120hz is amazing.

Yes. Burn in is still a possibility, but you almost have to try to get it on modern sets. Leave a static image on screen for hundreds of consecutive hours, only watch one channel with a static logo for hundreds of consecutive hours, only play one game with a static HUD for hundreds of consecutive hours. For 99% of people, burn in will never come up.

The C1 is an awesome set. I upgraded from a 2015 Samsung 4K and its a pretty noticeable upgrade.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

this was true 7 years ago.

not anymore. there are so many methods put in my tv manufacturers to prevent oled, that if you try, you won't get it .

and if you don't try, you might get slight.

BUT

it will lose brightness overtime. no avoiding that.

for now...

Yeah, there's some screen refresh built into the software now apparently that will help mitigate it. Good enough for me.

I have an LG C1 65 inch. Its a stunning tv. Best looking tv Ive ever seen. Insanely thin too. Be very very careful when you put it together, and make sure you have a second person helping.

They are so thin that theyre fragile. Again. You need a second person to help put it together lol.

But my series x looks insane on it. The C1 is the best tv on the market right now. Hands down.

It was a 2017 model in the $600 range. My parents have a 6 series from I think 2020 and it looks great, if you don't want to/can't go OLED it's a good buy

LG CX owner here with 5,640 hours of usage... always on every single day since October 2020.

Still no burn in to this day. And I play all my 3 consoles on it, treat it as my PC secondary monitor, watch YouTube vids daily, and twitch streams. It refreshes itself every night when I go to bed.

I have to admit that sometimes I leave it on idle for hours with wallpaper engine too. Now I turn off my TV when I don't use it (as you should). I used to leave it on idle for hours.. hahah.

I have an LG A1. Got it for 800 including taxes for 48 inches but damn Im going for the C1 if the 48 ever hits a grand. Ill consider the 55 for 11-1200 but that means waiting and Im fine with that.

TCL is a fine tv for the budget but it's very basic picture wise. Their "HDR" makes no sense, it just makes everything grayer.

You made the right call upgrading. I got a Samsung QN90A from a TCL. Same deal, it's night and day.

The TCL I want is a 55" 6 series, which has a retail price of $1000 CAD. It apparently has middling HDR, but is an exceptional TV otherwise.

If you're going to spend that much on a TV you might as well buy an LG. TCL is what you buy when you want something cheap

It's the cheapest TV I can find that has 120Hz VRR and low latency for video games.

just pay a couple hundred extra for a step up. if you're paying that much already then might as well go a little more and be set for the next decade.

i'm still happy with my 65" samsung i got 4 years ago. planning to keep this till 8k prices go down. by then i should have bought a house and just put this tv down in the basement or something.
