She's definitely innocent and the fact we don't allow any suspect to talk with a lawyer before speaking with the police is fucking garbage.

I saw the law and order svu episode based off the guy's case. He is innocent, any case that had that Dr death psychologist should be overturned at this point. Even if it would just be posthumously...

If you're not under arrest and simply being questioned regarding a situation the rights don't apply whatsoever. They will simply say she could have left at any time but chose to stay and keep talking.

Well the way it was written, it's hard not to interpret it that way.

Something occurs to me.

Police are often described as the 'good guys', meanwhile lawyers are almost always described as slimeballs.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but perhaps that benefited crooked cops a bit more than expected. At the very least, I don't think we're ever really taught "Do not talk to the police, talk to a lawyer first" in any standard education.

This is why I stand with the death penalty but only if there's irrefutable evidence that they're guilty of a heinous crime. There can't be any room left for question.

Yeah I support it in a case where its never a question of if they really did it. As it is now our system is far to flawed to have it go forward as it is.

And this is why the death penalty is unnecessary. Youve seen people on death row get exonerated years later. Better they lost a few years to live than having their life taken away from them.

also, you simply just cant have it sometimes. Legally, its too muddy. Things have to be done by the book. You leave too much on faith. Get rid of it completely. Life in Prison is enough.

This is why you never, ever confess anything to the cops. No matter what. Tell them you're not saying shit else until you have an attorney present.

Ive also seen so many interrogation videos where the suspect says he refuses to waive their rights to silence, but because they didnt flat out say I want an attorney the cops keep questioning and forcing out lies. Our justice system is a complete joke.

And this wasn't even 24 hours after she had lost her child. Even if she was well aware of that, she wouldn't be in mental state to think things through.

The woman wasn't even given time to mourn. All of this happened because some asshole wanted to score points for re-election? An asshole who is apparently serving time for bribery and corruption.

But at least we can rest easy knowing this means a small minority of really bad criminals won't get tax-paid lunch for life!

Death penalty should be abolished, but everyone talking about this case talks about the confession, and then ignores that a medical examiner said it was the worst case of child abuse he'd ever seen and that there was no way an accidental fall down some stairs.

Just like that Making A Murderer show, showing only the bad acts of the cops but ignoring the fact that dude was a psycho stalker and his DNA was all over the scene of the crime.

I think a lot of people figure if they ask for an attorney they'll look guilty. Or they're not made fully aware of their rights. You don't have to "cooperate" with the police in all situations.
