Just picked up a ps5 yesterday and I'm confused about save files.

I've already backed all save files from ps4 to the cloud and downloaded them onto system storage in ps5. But when I load the ps5 version of games the saves aren't there.

Is the only way to get the saves on the ps5 version to download the ps4 version of the game and transfer the saves manually? Or is there a quicker method because that'd going to take me forever.

Games I'm referring to are borderlands 3 and Maneater.

You have to download the PS4 version first, then transfer the save over to the PS5 version.

The games I've transfered saves from PS4 to PS5 all have an in game menu that utilize the publisher servers for the game to transfer the data. You redownload the data through the PS5 game.

Trying to copy your PS4 save and load it on the PS5 without doing it in game won't work.

Some games do and some games dont.

I would assume games that don't have a ps5 version don't make you upload anything in game?

Yeah obviously only games with a PS5 version have save transfer.
