They're dealing with Omicron but they never really dealt with the other strains and I believe a good portion of their population isn't vaxxed because they don't trust the Chinese vaccine

Hong Kong's population is ~7.5M so 30/million/day would give you ~82k per year.

The US experiencing the same rate would have over 3.6M people die in one single year.

It was ceded back to China in 1997, but has had significantly more autonomy than the rest of China.
