I discovered this Youtube page recently that highlights a lot of really creative and fun rom hacks of Mario games. Some of my favorites are:

Mecha Koopa Mayhem (Mario vs Donkey Kong inspired puzzle platformer with tweaked physics; you switch between Mario and Luigi to reach the goal)

I might start playing Odyssey today; it's been sitting since I got I over the holidays.

3D world is a great one if you havent played it. bowsers fury on the switch version is basically an odyssey extension

Odyssey made me realize that I'm not really that into 3D Mario games anymore. Objectively it's probably the best one and I can see that, but it's really void of personality and character. The game feels unfinished or something.

So is the 14th gonna be Maria day?

I haven't been using consoles at all lately. I picked up Odyssey last Black Friday (or Cyber Monday), keep meaning to try it.

There are too many god damn moons. When doing something difficult rewards you with the same amount of moons you can get just by walking down the street, there's something wrong with your game design.

Damn I would have played some Galaxy if I still had my Wii :(

That's part of it. It's full of moons and yet feels somehow empty.

I wish there had been a more meaningful central hub of some sort. Odyssey felt more disconnected than any other 3D Mario game.

the issue there was that a lot of moons were repetitive with tasks that weren't all that fun to begin with
i kinda get it though, things that are too easy won't be fun for us but they have to factor in the kiddie noobs, a good portion of the game has to be easy enough for them to make them fans of mario, buy future games and want to get better to beat the hard portion, people like us are the opposite mirror of that, the easy kiddie portion bores us while the hard more interesting stuff excites us, nintendo didn't balance those two aspects well as there was less stuff for us and much more stuff for kiddies/normies which to us seems like filler (repetitive stuff really is filler imo)

I don't know why people say this. It's a bunch of small, individual levels thrown across a big, empty overworld.
