I was looking for more 3d platformers but this looks like 2d based on the screen shots.

I remember playing New Super Mario Bros DS like 15 years ago, it was just okay. Don't know what a console version would be like, better? Worse?

3D World might be more what youre looking for, I just bought it in the same sale. It looked more fun than Bros. U did.

NSMBU is one of the best of the NSMB series so yes, it is. I would say Wii U > Wii > NSMB1 >>>> NSMB2.

But yes, 3D World might be what you're looking for. It is much more structured and is basically a 2D platformer in 3D if that makes any sense. Just get from point A to B and collect some green stars on the way.

Is it easy like the DS one, or harder?

Both U and 3D world are great imo

i think U is the hardest of the franchise. still not extremely hard but definitely some more engaging playing

U is difficult, yeah. And it comes with Luigi's expansion which ramps up the difficulty and adds new spins on old levels.

Yup me too, got 3d world bowser fury and trusting it to be fun. I'm just amassing the big platformers to play in between all the rpgs as a breather.

It's manageable. I'm on world 6 I think and it's a good challenge. Especially if you're going for the stars

IMO NSMBU is the best 2D Mario game since World/YI

NSMBU is definitely a good game, but I don't know if I'd spend $40 for it. The only reason I have it, is finding it in a discount outlet for $7.

I don't want anything too frustrating, as long as it's doable hopefully?

It's fun but pretty redundant after the first few NSMB games. if you never played a NSMB game before though then yeah get it.

I'd say it's manageable. I played through the Wii U version, so I don't know about all of the extra content, but the base game only had a few levels where I got the "You're dying a lot, would you like to get help from Luigi?" prompt.

The only REALLY hard parts of NSMBU IIRC are the special world levels (or whatever it's called in NSMBU), and some of the missions outside the main game.

Everything else isn't too bad though.

But I'm someone who has grown up playing the fuck out of platformers, so that might be why I feel that way.

Damn where'd you find a brand new video game for $7, that seems impossible in the modern era.

40 bucks seems the best we could hope for from a nintendo digital sale...

NSMBU is the best one of the NSMB series. Especially for $40 since you essentially get two games with the DX version.

But if you're looking for 3D platformers you could try the Mario 3D World port.

Personally I would buy this game physically because it's an easy resell once you beat it, and it's not like it has mega replayability.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and maybe Breath of the Wild are the only two I'd do digital.

Facepalm but those are the only 2 I got physical (in addition to odyssey and smash)

looooooooooooooooooool

Actually I'll amend that to say Mario+Rabbids digital as well because fuck swapping cartridges to play that game and it also gets so fucking cheap it's not even worth worrying about (it's $9.99 USD on the eShop right now and you can get it even cheaper from Ubisoft when they do their summer sale).

Heh tbh as much as I don't want to go digital the convenience of instantly playing the game instead of switching cartridges is just too convenient in the modern era. I mean we're paying more for less but I can't help it

Which is the rabbids game that's apparently good?

A local discount place that takes Amazon returns & resells them. If you're willing to wait long enough, & risk someone getting it before, you could get stuff for as little as $0.25, although they've gone up a little since then a lot of relatively good stuff for insanely cheap prices. The game I got had it's case so broken up I was skeptical it would even work, & I didn't notice at the time, but also has a PEGI rating on it; I thought the Switch was region locked.

I have to admit, as much as I prefer physical, the Switch is much better at digital. Also bought Mario+Rabbids; splurged on the Gold Edition, given the whole thing was only $15.
