It says it boosts the stat, but I'm talking about the status icons for sleep, madness, scarlet rot, etc.

If you're curious, btw, the bars pop up because you actually gain a little of that debuff when you first equip an item that resists it. I imagine it's meant to stop you from cheesing a debuff by equipping resistance gear really quickly.

they don't "enjoy" it, they just don't care, and only defend it because they get mad when someone has something bad to say about their precious franchise. the mystique of the world wouldn't be compromised in any way if a little thing popped up that said whatever npc is in whatever area once you progressed, or at least a warning that progressing further will lock you out of something.

i don't know about other epic gamers, but i never said i wanted to do multiple playthroughs of a game you can easily put 100+ in just to do a "wiki open" run

actually, here's a compromise, how about at the very least, if the player isn't allowed to know anything, just don't make shit time and progress-sensitive? that way you aren't punished for doing one thing before another? or is that ruining the mystery too?

I mean, they clearly enjoy it and defend it lol they absolutely care because they all would have an opinion on it. And the mystique would be compromised if they implemented warnings and shit.

It's just something you don't like and that's cool. But to paint it as blind fanboyism is dumb. It's an entirely different experience from other games, it's novel and fun. These games shouldn't be, and aren't encouraged to be, played like a checklist of chores. Your experience is your experience, unique to yourself and however you decide to play. And the quest design adds to that.

Hell most of the quests you'd be missing out on reward you with shit exclusive to a build that you most likely aren't even running. You're not missing out on much other that a few lines of story.

like i said, it's absurd, counterintuitive, and never going to be justifiable. this idea of mystery, mystique and charm is just tedium. and the defense is "it's good, just stop caring if you miss something..." sure thing.

that'd work for me if the game wasn't set in a gigantic world that already has 100+ hours of other things to do if you want. not that i'm not grateful for the content it offers, but it's just a little ridiculous to me to be expected to trudge through it over and over, especially if the game gets harder and harder like in the others.

and again, you don't know if you miss something or not until you wiki it and see you're SOL. no matter what, the answer is always "check the wiki," and that's just not okay with me. even if you start new game+, without haunting that damn wiki, you'd still be missing shit. it's ridiculous, you'd sound like a madman in a straight jacket, check the wiki, check the wiki! over and over, lol

I'm intending to play through it once (assuming I beat it) and I'm fine with not experiencing everything it has to offer.

I don't think it really has the same types of quests like New Vegas does anyway if Dark Souls is any indication.

Guerrilla Games should try not releasing a game when a mega hit is a week away. Zero Dawn came out around the same time as Breath of the Wild and Forbidden West came out around the same time as Elden Ring. It's a shame since both games are solid, but that's poor timing.

Yeah, I typically keep the fextralife guides open on my phone while I play lol.

They have a sidequest progression guide that tells you which quests you should do in which order by major areas of the game.

So far, there's a lot of sidequests in this game.

Fromsoft found a winning formula that resonated with people to the point where they really don't have to do much different between games and it would actually be seen as a drawback if they did. They do just enough different to qualify as not being the same game as well. Not as legendary but kinda like the Dragon Quest series for me. I don't want them to change too much between games because each new one feels like a comfy place to me that I enjoy returning to.

The horizon games do pretty well on the world part. Going off in a random direction you havent been before tends to result in you bumping into something.

The quest quality varies a lot though. The stuff that advances the story or puts you into situations you normally wouldnt be in are good. The go off and hunt a few X to get Y are terrible. If anyone wants to go off and do some normal machine hunting they can do so without quests making them.
