I think that from now on, every time someone bitches about a Souls game not being made for everyone, I'll complain about how BotW wasn't made for me and that they should have made it "better" so that I'd like it.

I was actually really disappointed by BotW. I really wanted to like but I didn't like several of the game's mechanics.

Nintendo didn't intentionally design BOTW badly to appeal to a fanbase who wanted to toxicaly gatekeep because they think ecouraging such behavior is a more lucrative investment.

That's the entire point of the discussion.

As I mentioned before, they added Quick Save into the Oddworld Abe's Oddysee remake to give an OPTION for more players to enjoy it. The fanbase didn't care.

They added sliders into Pathologic 2 (which is much harder and entirely plot dependant on the player struggling and dying over and over) and the fanbase didn't care.

Now look at this topic and then look at the Souls community and ask them how they would react if From inserted an option to make the player have more agency?

They won't answer and will insult you 500 times and then pretend you asking them an open question is both complaining and demanding that From "aren't alllowed" do what they like.

It feels like talking to Anti-vaxxers about why openly anti vax media sources and influencers promoting Horse dewormer and anti-covid anti-vaccination conspiracy theories are a bad and harmful thing. The same defenses come up "It's not illegal for them to do it, they're allowed to." "Why don't you just go to one of the many other media oulets then and leave us a lone!? If they're so good, how come so many of us listen to Anti-vaxxers!? HUH!? That proves it's a good thing!"

That's not the point, that never was the point.

Pathologic 2 is more tough and challenging any Souls game by design.

The options they added didn't change that experience for anyone who wanted it.

Again just like I said, just like I have said for over a decade and just like I suspect I will say bunch more times in the next decade, you're intentionally not listening the point anyone is ever making.

I'm roughly 7 hours into Elden Ring and not gonna lie, I'm waiting for it to get difficult.

So far, this is the easiest game that they've made.

Pathologic is a mother.. Ive never experienced a game as frustrating as that lol

The difficulty of it keeps you engaged though.. the entire time youre suffering and trying to beat time and make decisions of where and when.. they feel weighted and like theyre almost out of your control though

I dont think FromSoft should add difficulty options honestly, they made a creation with a specific artistic vision and achieved that vision - the only reason why people gave the game the time of day was because people were curious about the old school health dynamics (ie no regen)

I picked it up on a whim (partly because of this thread lol) and am about 10-15 hours in, but I'm considering reselling it on ebay while it still holds some value. It's not overly difficult, but the controls are ass and I'm frequently learning about basic gameplay mechanics from yt videos that aren't explained or tutorialized in game (or if they are, they're done very poorly or are hidden). It would definitely help if the game had an instruction manual.

I'm loving the aesthetic and the world overall, but wtf is with the same curved ruins wall on its side all over the world? And where are the structures these pieces fell from?

Oh, and I've already encountered a few bugs, which is disappointing. The most egregious being an issue with the Tree Sentinel at the beginning. I had beat him down about 80%, he killed my spectral wolf pets...and then instead of coming to kill me he just returned to his regular pathing while I sniped him the rest of the way down. I've had a couple other instances of regular enemies not being able to figure out how to path to me and they just stand there and die while I Pebble them to death lol.

Oh, I dont know. It seems pretty amusing to me that he wrote a text wall defending BotW that I didnt read because its not worth the effort. We already know that anyone who suggests that a Souls game doesnt need to be adjusted and doesnt have to cater to everyone is toxic and elitist. Because somehow, From is obligated to do so when no other company must meet this requirement.

The problem here is that, as far as I know, all souls games are online/multi-player. They are balanced around invading and being invaded. Having the ability to make your game easier doesn't work in these games due to that.

You can have an experience based on challenge and still have options for players. Some players who are bad at games will find the "easier" options harder than you will find the hard playthrough. To them it was more of a challenge.

I don't like that you somehow interpreted the "We" part of "We Want Easymode vs We Don't Want Easymode" to mean I was talking about your specific argument.
